Lex here, as many of you know I am going off to college and living on my own, which means redecorating is in order! I have always had a blush room with white, gold, and black, but now I decided to add some new touches to this light and airy look. I’m adding reds, oranges, and a variety of pinks because I feel like it creates a more grown-up look while still being able to reuse some of the things from my room now.
In this post, I’m going to show you some of the goodies I found a lot affordable and can be found at your local target and also the steps to starting your own decorating journey! I am sooo excited to show y’all how it all came out since this is my first room decorated entirely by me! I’m hoping this will inspire yall’s decorating style as you move into, or redo your next room!
Back Story: My mom has done interior design almost all of her life so I have always been around decorating. Whether I watched her decorate a client’s home, or saw her add things here and there to our own, I was always so intrigued!
So here is an overview of all of the stuff I bought before moving in aka crap corner (lol)!
So, here it is! All the stuff I bought for my rooms…just kidding! I’m going to break this clutter down and show you everything I bought with the price so you don’t have to play a game of eye spy! Click on any picture and it will be directly linked to the product for you to shop!
Steps to picking out your own color scheme…
1. Start out with bedding and pillows!
I went with a white bedspread to allow me to add all the fun colors with pillows and decorations in my room. I chose this bedspread from bed bath & beyond for $150
Next, I chose my “fun pillow” for $19.99 to go off of for the rest of my color scheme
Then I chose the rest of the pillows to go along with the 2 pillows that came with the bedspread and the one above! I bought 2 of these for $34.99
& 2 of these for $19.99… (I already had these, but any white pillow would do–I LOVE adding texture, so the more the better for me)
This throw for $29.99 for the end of the bed- this added a pop of color to the white bedspread
My sheets for just under $35 – gimme all the roses!
and then the Bed Skirt for $19- If you’re debating on getting a bedskirt I would say go for it! This really does make a difference to the overall look of your bed and a simple touch!
2. Onto the lamps/lights/decorations!
I snagged this floor lamp for $39.99 at our local Target, but online it is $79.99 (I have alwaysss wanted a floor lamp and I couldn’t pass up this steal)
Then I got this lamp for $39.99- I love the wood accents and it was the perfect addition to my desk!
Next, I got these fun lights to hang above my bed for just under $15.00 (These are kind of the same texture as the bedspread) Your room is your sactuary so for me I thought these lights would be a nice touch!
And this garland for $24.99 to hang along with it to give a more boho vibe- I’ve alwasy been a fan!
Tufted headboard- this is more on the expensive, but your headboard is the focal point so definitely worth the splurge! Also, check out WayFair or Overstock, they always have deals and quick delivery!
I couldn’t find the exact curtains because I snagged them at TJ max but these are similar for just under $25. Dressing up your windows is important and to block out the sun for those rooms with bright windows. Pro tip if you have lower windows, hang your window treatments above the window and it makes them look longer and more “grand”!
Side Table on sale for just under $60
Desk for just under $60…such a steal and I wanted a more simple design to avoid clutter!
A black trunk I put at the end of my bed for extra storage- this is great for smaller rooms with lack of space!
Here is a similar bookshelf for only $15.99- I put things like books, succulents, pics, any mementos! I made sure to space things out to avoid a cluttered look.
These are the wicker baskets I put in the shelves above- another great way to hide those things you don’t care to show, but just can’t part with!
I wasn’t able to find my exact wicker tray, but here is another good option for just under $35- This I lay on my bed with a candle or book!
Lastly, This Cursive L (comes in many colors) Hung outside my door I thought it made it more personal & liked the look!
3. Put it All Together…
This is what I created…I feel so at home and I am very happy with how it turned out!
